Street Photography in Ürümqi. Sub-zero with the Nikon ZF.
On my first visit to Xinjiang, China’s northwestern frontier, I found myself walking the streets at a freezing -10°C (14°F). Although my trigger finger was numb from the cold, making street photography difficult at best, the street scenes themselves did not disappoint.
The very early sunset, and the steaming kebab and samsa stalls, offered a magnificent backdrop for my photography.
The food was amazing, the people were friendly, and I knew that, with a start such as this, this trip will be one to remember. Here is a sample of what I came home with.
