50mm Street Photography in Guangzhou. A Walk Down Zoumu Jie with a Vintage Seagull Lens.

After last week’s street photography walk with a 35mm full frame equivalent vintage lens I decided this week to take out my “nifty fifty”. My lens of choice for this photo walk was the Seagull Haiou-67 35/F2.8 lens, mounted on my Panasonic Lumix GX9 (with the Zhonggyi Lens Turbo II as a converter).

Again, I was planning to head over to People’s Park in Guangzhou but decided to take a detour and venture down busy road. The road itself was a complete waste of time but at the end of it was a small alley with a huge tree growing in the middle of it. “Ancient Tree”, the local fishmonger pointed and said to me. Quite a bizarre scene so close to the city center. Turns out this old street is called Zoumu Jie (走木街) — “Walk Wood Street”.

Photography-wise, it was not a good day. I found the 50mm lens too tight and found myself “zooming out” with my feet. I was regretting not bringing the 35mm lens with me. But here is my catch of the day.
