A few hours north of Ürümqi, still at a chilling -10°C (14°F), I found myself experimenting with landscape photography and a zoom lens. I am much more comfortable with street scenes and a prime lens, and I found it challenging to compose my shots and nail in the settings with a frozen trigger finger. The lack of a tripod and my wimpy shivering in the cold wind did not help much either.
The scenery was jaw-dropping and only a few lunatics braved the elements that day. It was an exceptional hike, even though the photos do not do the place justice.
